They will really go nuts when we eliminate "under god" from the pledge few of us make.

so help me god aleady IS optional. all one has to do is affirm. why are the gop so stuck in the past? i don't even think it's a real past, for the most part; they're stuck in a fictional (usually very white, very male) past.

I think it is reasonable to drop "So help me god" as prosecution for perjury does not require it. This isn't the middle ages where people feared breaking god oaths anyways.

They also think our currency has ALWAYS said ‘in god we trust’...despite clear evidence to the contrary.

Yeah, and they think the Pledge of Allegiance ALWAYS had "one nation under God" in it...

@DeStijl ? that drives me nuts!

@CarolinaGirl60 I used to have a neighbor who was a Black man married to a Brazilian woman with 5 mixed race children. He was a Republican and both he and his wife were naturalized citizens with all their anchor babies. He never figured out that he was the token minister at an otherwise all-white church. He would always tell me that non-Christians should conduct themselves as guests in the US since it is a Christian nation. Uhhhh, yeaaaaaahhhhhh. I once asked him if it made a difference that five generations of my father's family were born here. Nooooo.

@DeStijl Logic is a foreign concept to many xtians AND Republicans. Zero critical thinking skills. The perks are always theirs, downfalls/inconvenient rules are for us, and anyone not like them are wrong. ?

@CarolinaGirl60 He used to tell me god lead him to my building to save me. I would ask him why his all-powerful god had not changed my heart yet like he said was going to happen. Years later after I moved to a different building, I'd cross paths with him and he'd ask me if I'd let jesus into my heart yet. I'd tell him no and he'd tell me I was resisting. I'd ask if that made me more powerful than jesus if I could resist someone who was supposed to be all-powerful. It was entertaining!

@DeStijl Messing with their heads is fun. They don’t get the irony or sarcasm.

Yeah, because no one would ever lie so long as they swore to god that they wouldn't. 😛
