Valentines day is coming up and although I don't buy into anything like that it is still an excuse to do something romantic for my partner. So I've bought her a vacuum cleaner. Cant wait to see her face when she gets it 🙂

Once upon a time, I came across a shop (true, i swear)whose sign advertised "Guns & Vacs". Seemed an obvious pairing, saving the little woman a lot of time.....

sometimes you just have to take a picture. thats awesome 🙂

@Nardi this was before phones that could take pictures, but so funny I still get a smile when I think of it.

I made this error also.

what was the aftermath?

@Nardi I am still hearing about it 40 years later.

I never understood how buying tools for common chores for women is somehow a faux pas whereas men see a gift of tools in a positive light. The women seem to want something completely useless, like a diamond...it is devoid of logic. Note that I have as well as a garage full of tools, my own vacuum cleaner, pots, pans, etc.

I secretly think/hope she will love it 🙂

@IrishTxJudy "Get me a bottle of wine or a candle and i’m good" You must be one ot those mythical, "low maintenance" ladies. 🙂

I think a gift for Valentine's day is supposed to be a symbol of affection and/or romantic love. But that's just me. It should be something special (and maybe not simply 'logical', Mr Spock.) Maybe your partner will like it. You know what they like or want. And I guess it's better than nothing at all.

I used to think jewelry as gifts was stupid, useless, then I lost my husband, and wished I'd asked for it. We both loved semi precious gemstones, lapidaries. Too little too late.
If there's a next time with someone I cherish deeply ....

My legs would be walking out the door if my partner brought me a vacuum... but, that’s just me!

The beauty is she will be at her own place when she gets it so walking out the door is not really an option. I can't wait haha

I would love to receive tools as a gift. Instead, I end up with a lot garbage I don't need or want but can't get rid of without hurting someone's feelings.

@rogueflyer I hope my partner is of the same mind as you!

@rogueflyer if someone asks for a specific tool is one thing. Household items are impersonal. They are gifts for home maintenance that anyone can use. Like I said.. that’s just me!

@Green_eyes : Not just you...me too.....ha ha. For Valentine's Day day anyway................

That handle will hurt where it may end up.

Get her a card. If you are the guy on this HELLADAY, that is all you are likely to receive.

Be sure to book an appointment with the proctologist to have it removed Feb 15
