I remember clearly having mumps. So much pain. I don’t remember having chicken pox or measles (I did). Now, in my elder years I get to anticipate a case of shingles. Few vaccines when I was young.

Yes there is a shingles vaccine now but my ins provider will only cover it if given by my physician. She does not and most drs here do not buy and administer it.

Anti vaccine parents are another group that insists on dismissing the facts that history provides us. My anti vax step daughter is one of those folks. She moved her kids out of mandatory vax state California into Arizona just to avoid having to vax them. You can not talk to her as she FEELS that she is doing the right thing. I THINK she might be in error.

There was a meme today where an anti-vaxxer mom was worried about how to avoid her 3-year old from getting measles?.
Best response: 3 is not too old. Depending on his size you could reinsert him into your vagina for a few months.

I agree with this, but sadly this downplays the seriousness of these diseases. Sadly in previous generations, they killed children.

I’m definitely sharing this one.. lol

My younger brother nearly died from measles...it was before they had the shots...I will never forgot how upset my parents were and how miserable he was...it is not just the spots...it is a terrible way to die...

I hope doctors do use whatever means they need to let parents know how foolish and dangerous this is....

Sorry to hear this. Hope he fully recovered.

@Amisja It was 1960...I had the mumps and chicken pox with my sister...back then, the "cure" was hoping to get a mild form of the disease...we are all fully recovered! We are lucky...

@thinktwice I am so pleased to hear that. However vaccination is a good thing.

@Amisja Yes, we were vaccinated when it became available...I still have my original records!
