VA governor yearbook picture is bad enough...but at any point did the university or the yearbook committee or the publisher stop and think “Ummm maybe this picture isn’t the best idea???”?

Anyone have a yearbook with this photo in it? Corroberation in an era of faux everything.

Med school age is between 21-30 years old...old enough to be responsible...not all content is reviewed by any committee or the university...this is on him...

The south is still behind the time even now in this 21st century.

The shame is.. VA, or at least ‘NOVA’ is trying soooo hard to get beyond it.. I voted for the guy (primary & general), actually appreciated his ‘moderation.’ My take is, yes ..F’ed up.. - but what soured me is his first admitting being ‘one of the two characters’ - then saying that he can’t actually remember… Then - admitting he’d portrayed Michael Jackson in ‘black face!’

I’m from Oregon, and not from a family who wore sheets.. So am still discovering ‘the south.’ I’d thought higher of my adopted state, and as an active Democrat, this sickens me. Ironically, when he finally steps down, Justin Fairfax (voted for him too) will ascend to the Governorship - poetic justice..?

I’ve done yearbooks for schools. They just provide templates and publishing. They’re not responsible for content. This is completely on him and the school/yearbook committee. It’s really disappointing for someone that’s had a pretty good career up to know. As a medical professional and pro-choice advocate, I have concerns over some statements he made about post birth termination recently.

That was the way our yearbooks are done as well...a lot of questionable things get through but it is the individual at that age who is responsible...med school is old enough to know better...

It was Virginia in the 1980's. That doesn't make it right... Just explainable.

And to think ..they’ve been our trusted doctors…

I don't trust any doctor. Have you heard of the opioid crisis? Doctors! =0{

@Countrywoman Not sure about MD’s … but thankfully I’ve never needed, or at least seen a psychiatrist… What I’m finding confirmed with time and experience is ..most of them ‘got into to it’ in an attempt to diagnose themselves. After enough time, they had a degree! We’re F’ed 😀

Exactly but it was Virginia in the 80’s and at that time no one had any idea that the internet would ever happen nor did anyone see Northam becoming governor.

But both have happened and it’s a now what situation.

Ya think?

Freakin' ridiculous that the yearbook committee actually approved the inclusion
of that photograph.
This was a medical school in the mid-80s. Not a bunch of immature high schoolers in the 50s.
There is NO excuse for this. None.
