Today it is two weeks that I haven't been out of the house for more than five minutes. I have four more days before I can actually leave the house. Why? I adopted a rescue dog who had been heartworm positive. After treatment they need to be kept quiet for four weeks or they risk a stroke or embolism which means that I have to be here to supervise. My dear Liam arrived from North Carolina two weeks ago. He's a foxhound who is seemingly appalled at our Wisconsin weather. I love him like crazy -- but at this point crazy is the operative word. I am somewhat reclusive but this is ridiculous. Any human contact, even electronic is more than welcome.

Yoo hoo to you and Liam from UK. Crikey I get cabin crazy after a day...well I never last that long. Well done. (How have you eaten?)

I knew this was coming so I did a huge shopping trip and laid in ingredients for casseroles I cooked then froze in portion sizes -- pulled pork, lasagne, chicken and rice casserole, turkey breast. I also baked. Since I love to cook, that part was ok.
It's been very odd not to be able to just pick up and run to the grocery store or pharmacy. I will appreciate that freedom so much more.

@ladyprof70 Will ww be getting pics soon?

@Amisja Here he is.

@ladyprof70 awww I love that first pic, he isn't very sure is he...he's like, "what is going on here?"

@Amisja That was taken by one of the drivers on the two day transport.

@ladyprof70 He's a cutey. Let us know how he gets on.

Lots of binge watching going on?

Right now I'm watching the Haunting of Hill House on Netflix.

@ladyprof70 Is it good?

@patchoullijulie I thought it was excellent. I've watched the movies made on the same story: The Haunting, The Haunting of Hill House (Liam Neeson) and this one hit all the important story points in a really creative way. It was really engaging. I'd recommend it, especially if you have seen the others.

@ladyprof70 Thanks. I am going to check them out. ?

That’s hard. Order in Mac n Cheese pizza and get on some forums and chat rooms.

Also, you’re doing a really good thing by your pup.

Thanks. We seniors have to stick together. He went through a lot to get here (found a stray, time in the shelter, heartworm treatment, waiting in a boarding kennel, then the two day drive to get here). We're having a good time together bonding. But we're also both going totally stir crazy! After heartworm treatment they can't run or jump or do anything to raise their heart rate for a month. So he's confined in the downstairs with me.

That's great of you to adopt him. How was he able to travel like that?

There's a whole network of rescue groups and transport groups working with animals all around the country. There were 19 drivers who took legs from Willmington, North Carolina to me here in Wisconsin. Each drove for a couple of hours. It's amazing how generous people can be.

Wow the things we do for our pets! My parents cat had thyroid reduction done with radiation and was radioactive for a week. They had to collect his poop and take it to the vet for disposal ?

I'm just having to pick it up from the floor (on puppy pads). He's not a pup;y he's a senior, but the weather here as been so terribly cold and snowy that he won't go out.

@ladyprof70 a lot of people have been saying their dog won’t go out in this cold - they have more sense than most people?

Bless you for your devotion to these dogs. I hope you relish your reprieve.

He is an amazing dog who was rescued one day before he was to be euthanized. He's a senior and had to be treated for heartworms so he sat in a kennel for almost three months. He's a real treasure. I'm just lucky and grateful to all the people who contributed to his being alive and happy today.
