I agree with this to a certain point. I believe the very rich are putting roadblocks up to keep a segment of the population down, especially in education. They have been making so many changes in the schools that are not teaching kids even how to read or write. Math is being taught in quirky ways and science is almost non existent. However, I also think that there is a need for people, especially parents to start demanding better teachers, more basics and making administrators accountable for what is being taught, how the schools are being run, even to the actual buildings. If more parents would hold their school boards accountable, we would see a major change. Sadly, most parent don't get that involved either because they're too busy working just to keep things together or don't want to get involved.

Not true. Where is the evidence for such an assertion?

Who are these pompous “we” who claim they are trying to feed the poor? If each person concentrated on her own well-being rather than on the portfolios of wealthy people we’d all be better off.

@Lutherzme We have different visions, different perspectives of “the poor”. I respectfully view my fellow humans as strong, courageous, healthy, happy and aware. Others view them with pity and condescension, as objects of their solicitous benevolence, or as tools for the advancement of their political power.

it becomes more pronounced with each generation. It's going to take a major bloody revolution to fix it.

Religion served a great tool in keeping the poor poor...money was given more power than ours real worth. And majority of people are easily distracted by either trying to survive or keeping up appearances.. that's why we ended not only with poverty but we fucked up our only home our planet and all life that we were supposed to share it with

A bit simplistic but some truth in it.
