Had a brief, but heartfelt & interesting talk with our current houskeeper. She's young, just finishing up a divorce. 11 year old daughter she currently has joint custody of. This young woman is working 3 jobs to make ends meet. She is close to a PT associate's degree from our local community college. While we really don't want to lose her as our houskeeper, this is NOT a career slot. She needs to finish out the last part of her schooling in a "hands on" environment, thus, would have to quit her current employments. I told her she could clean our home based on her schedule. But that won't cover her lost income. Anyone out there have suggestions for non-time sensitive jobs she could try?

Sorry..
PT = Physical Therapy. (Medical)
Associate degree = 2 year junior college degree.

Could she stay with you while she finishes her schooling? I know that is a BIG request, but I presume it would be time-limited, and you could lay down a set of ground rules for her time with you, and for her use of any of her facilities. Having a low-rent place to stay would be a "godsend" (hate to use that word but it is the right one for this context) for her at this time.

I don't think that would work out for us. Good idea. She's got an 11 year old daughter in an adjoining city. Plus, my wife and I are extreme introverts.

If she has any skill at writing, or computing skills, she could do fairly steady gig work on websites like fivver. The drawback is it takes awhile to get good stars/recommendations unless you have friends and family that can go to bat for you.

My only thought is to allow her daughter to live with her father and that would perhaps free her from financial responsibilities and allow her more freedom to live a more frugal life and allow her to continue with her education. This would of course be a temporary solution and would have to be agreed on by both parents.

I asked her that....
Not a viable option.
But a good suggestion.
