I love witty one liners from the likes of Oscar Wilde and Mark Twain and one who was renowned for his acerbic wit was the late English climber Don Willans. He was at a base camp in the Himalayas camped next to a group of Germans. Apparently Germany had beaten England at football the day before and one of the Germans said to Don "We have beaten you at your national game". Don's reply was "And we have beaten you at yours-- twice "
