I streamed Bohemian Rhapsody last night.

I loved Freddie Mercury but I didn't love that.

It was a very white-washed, make people comfortable portrayal.

And you do not actually hear the power of THAT voice until the closing credits.

I might do one or two Oscar movies tonight as I need a distraction.

YOu do know that Freddie smoked don't you?

You are seriously trolling me over smoking?

How much a toddler are you?

Yes. And he died at 45 of AIDS.

Cigarettes probably wasn't good for that pneumonia bit.

@BufftonBeotch I doubt you have any idea of how much work I have done in the field of HIV in Africa and how many conferences i have attended in respect of that blight on humanity. I have been involved in it since 2000. perhaps i should point you at the grave of a 14 year old girl who had lain down and willed herself to die. How could that be? you may ask. Both her parents had died of AIDS and she had buried them at the back of the family hut. The rest of the village she lived in, through ignorance, thought she must be a witch. The stigma attached to her parents death was such that they all refused to help her in any way. So having nothing and no-one she laid down and died. Medicine sans frontiere were 20 minutes too late to save her. Then there are the girl children who have been raped because of a idea that the way to get rid of HIV is to have sex with a virgin.

@artlochfergus I think you are a troll and there is no damn way you are a doctor in Africa.

Bitch....please.

The actual Live Aid concert.

He held that entire stadium in rapture. And the world by TV broadcast.

This movie IMO must be seen in a surround-sound theater, I saw it last night in one and the power of the concert scenes had the audience around me clapping & screaming, everyone, and it was packed!

I posted the real Live-Aid concert just over this post.

I think the movie misses a bit of the power of the audience feedback.

@BufftonBeotch have been to a few concerts and the angles & overviews in the movie are just not available to attendees, no matter how much they paid for seats. With the big theater screen & surround sound in the theater, I was completely blown away!

@AnneWimsey I attended an Elton John concert. The tickets behind the stage balcony level were surprising cheap and very good.

That was maybe the best concert/arena show I have ever seen.. That man played for over three hours and it was so obvious he loved every minute of it.

Our local NPR movie reviewer made the same observation about the way the movie paints Freddie Mercury. I screened the movie in my home theater (for the second time) last night. Eleven people showed up. All guests loved it. Several of them had seen it many times before. Some of the younger viewers (first viewing) thought it was excellent. On a scale of 1 to 4 I rated it as a 3 in my database.

I read that the movie seemed to be a vehicle for the other members of the band to distance themselves from Mercury's excesses.

Man had a set of pipes.

If you ever see someone rocking out in a car at a traffic light like their hair is on fire? It's probably Freddy on the radio. ❤

Wayne's World!
