Sounds a little like Jews for Jesus 🙂

BD66 Level 8 Mar 5, 2019

Nothing about Jews, nothing about Jesus. Seems clear enough.

@Allamanda Most Buddhists don’t believe in god, at least not a creator god. When the Buddha found enlightenment and people saw he was something different and asked him if he was a god, he said, no, I am awake.
Btw, there are three other Buddhisty groups here on agnostic.com.

@jerry99 OK, I'll explain myself. Jews do not believe Jesus was the son of god, and that's the #1 difference between Jews and Christians. However for some strange reason, there is a group called Jews for Jesus. This is a web site composed of people who supposedly don't believe all the nonsense about religious miracles, but you appear to be worshiping someone else (similar to Jesus), who supposedly performed religious miracles: [en.wikipedia.org]

@BD66 Really? If you think I'm worshiping the Buddha, then you missed the part above where I said that most Buddhists do not believe in a creator god and that the Buddha said he was not a god. As for the Buddha performing miracles, I'd take that with a healthy dose of skepticism, as I would for any ancient (or modern) stories about miracles. Generally in the West, Buddhists are far more likely to be atheists than believers.

@jerry99 Here's the top level message at the Jews for Jesus Web site:

Our Stories
Why Jesus? Because of who he is. Because of what he said. Because his reality transforms lives in the midst of a broken world. Because he fulfills the hopes of our Jewish people, and of the rest of the world. Because he atones for our sins. Because believing in him makes sense. There are as many reasons for “why Jesus” as there are followers of him. Discover what some of them have found.

Now compare and contrast that with jerry99 for Buddha:

Why Buddha?

@BD66 I have no idea what you're going on about. If you think being a Buddhist is like being a Jew for Jesus, you're wrong, but I don't really care. I'm a Jew, a life-long atheist, and a Buddhist -- there is no conflict.
