I find it hilarious that religions continue to exclude people as the church numbers dwindle. They are feeding their own doom. Not to mention all of the other scandals.

There is a lot about religion, particularly authoritarian / fundamentalist religion, that is not sustainable, and self-destructive. This is why I have at least long-term optimism for humanity, I think fundamentalism is on its last legs, and knows this on some level, which unfortunately makes it a cornered, dangerous beast.

For example, many political analysts see the influence and power of evangelicals waning in US politics, and think that power brokers will turn away from them as soon as the 2020 elections.

Until perhaps a more sympathetic name comes up, I'm going to think of it as the Chris McCandless diet. The church is filling up on pleasant wishes and good intentions, which provide absolutely no sustenance because reality's a bitch that insists on rules that don't support the church's narrative.

Good. May they disappear quickly.
