I did not know this about my state.
As incredible as it seems, Nebraska has more miles of waterways than any other state in the Union. 79,000 miles total. And every stinking one of them is flooding.

The flooding is a preview of what is to come via climate changes. A few degrees rise in global average temperatures is enough to chnge the thermal dynamics of air currents and changes what once was "normal" weather. We will exprience greater extremes in weather, with both record warmer and colder temperatures.
This year's floodign is caused by greater winter snow fall melted quickly by larger than normal rainfall. This kind of thing won't happen every year, but will become much more common as time goes on.
In the Pacific Northwest, where I live, we got 110-150% of normal snow fall. If we got a ton of rain the Columbia River would flood too. This is after more than ten years of mostly below normal snow fall.

Who knew! That is impressive, sorry there is so much flooding. If only there was a way to get all that water to recharge the Ogallala Aquifer.

Colorado has had a crap ton of snow, so much of that melt off will end up in the aquifer. I am always impressed when someone knows about the Ogallala Aquifer. You're so above average. It amazes me how many locals don't know about it!
@HippieChick58 I know if they keep suckin' on it at the rate they are going there will be serious impacts on farming. Right now T. Boone Pickens is the largest holder of senior water rights in the U.S. I was active in the land and water issues here in Kittitas County.

I'm thinking mother nature may be needing Prozac, or just maybe some pot. This late winter has been extreme. Hopefully things will calm down and we'll have a nice spring.

@freedom41 No, it doesn't at all. I was on the better safe than unemployed side for many years. Then I realized my employers were not testing, and I know some folks who travel westwardly fairly frequently, and they take good care of me. I am not a "regular" user by any stretch of the imagination, but some day I might be.
@freedom41, @HippieChick58 Nothing wrong with being a weed user, but beware of becoming an excessive and habitual weed user. That can lead to early dementia in susceptible people.
@Petter there are some who would say I already have early dementia 
or something like that. Maybe not "early". Given the cost I don't think I am likely to use to excess.

I'm ex-Kenyan. The stuff grew everywhere, so was virtually unsellable without "added value" A pack of 20, king size, filter tipped, pure leaf joints cost the same as a packet of ordinary, king sized, filter tipped, cigarettes.
Price was therefore no barrier.
