I'm wondering about something which is going to cause me to post this same question twice, once from humanist.com and once from agnostic.com. Don't blame me, its how the site works AND I WANT ANSWERES, DAMMIT!

So anyways, if you go to your account page / Alerts/Settings, the very last option is if you want your posts and profile shared to humanist.com from the agnostic.com side. If you're on humanist.com it asks if you'd like the same info not shown on agnostic.com.

So my question is this: it's the same damn site, yet a few people have choose not to. Why?

I promise I'll keep all answeres confidential from site to site. You can trust me, I've never held elective office in my life.

Where is the option for, I don’t care and have never heard of humanist.com?

Option 1

so, there is no both. thats what i understood. however, the way the setting reads your profile and your posts should not be able to to be seen from the other domain. BUT does that leave comments and replies open to viewing from the other domain? does that mean a click on your avatar takes them to your profile anyway? I don't ever remember clicking on someone's Avatar and given some message that it was unavailable because they were on humanists....? maybe they don't have the opt-out option. ?

Oh it's definitely both. Only way it wouldn't be is if everyone on both sides opted out. But I can post something from humanist and it showes up on both, and it appears that people opted out from their end can see it and respond but I just can't see the response. Havent done testing on it to confirm and won't - I can use the same account on both portals at the same time just using multiple tabs. I'm worried about breaking something if I opt out using the same account on both sites at the same time. Could be a fun experiment if I'm in a really bad mood someday. ?

You definitely can't see someone's profile if they've opted out, but still get alerts if you're members of the same group (that's what made me look into this a bit further). Some groups aren't available, not sure exactely why but suspect the group originator opted out. You can see them in the group listings, however, just can't enter them.

@1of5 funky. it's all so overwhelming. it's really bizarre. I think I might need to lay down.

@hankster deep breaths, man, you'll be ok.

@1of5 it really does seem strange mashup. not so much thematically or ideologically, I guess kind of architecturally. it's a strange space somehow.

@hankster it's the internet. It's supposed to be strange. If it's not supposed to be we're in big, big trouble

@1of5 I figure I'm in trouble regardless one way or another. but you're right. long live the absurdity!

None of your business what other people choose to do, is it?!!

Problem is I still get alerts from groups that we're joint members of, but can't see the post. So as much as I'd like to agree with you, I can't. And yes it has been reported to admin.

I think it has something to do with the lighting.
