🤡. Most of us in the community either don't believe in God, don't know if God exists, or don't care either way. Based on these various traits, we are considered more intelligent... Afterall, we are members of The Community of Reason. From what I've seen on this site, this doesn't apply to all members who don't know, believe, or care. .. I don't think or agree that because we reject religion, it makes us all more intelligent than believers or anyone else for that matter... We are all still bogged down by stereotypes, sloppy thinking or socialization...
What are your thoughts? Agree or disagree and why?

You seem to have posed a questionable assumption, linking religious non belief to higher intelligence, and then shot it down.

I've never accepted that assumption expressed in that way, so I don't buy in. As for all of us prone to sloppy thinking and delusional thinking on some things, well yes.

Yes... That's exactly what I've done... Posed a questionable assumption... Then I responded and asked for opinions to see if I was on the right track ?

I don't see anything the matter with faith, but realistically and statistically it will never prevail over reason. Consequently I believe the most intelligent and logical method for establishing facts is science and reason. So in other words, fuck yes we are smarter (Of course that does not mean all of us).

Being more reasonable do not connote greater intelligence or greater education or even so called wisdom, it simply implied the ability to think in an organised way and draw your own conclusions.
It takes very little intelligence to realise the absence of evidence for the existence or effectiveness of a purported god, simply the ability to observe and act according.

Absolutely agree...
It’s because having faith does not any relation to having intelligence. That is why religious folks and atheists often have a hard time with each other. They both look at each other and think the same thing: how could you believe versus how can you not believe.

Perhaps we could say atheists are enlightened amongst ourselves, but I’m not excited about the use of that term either.

When I first came here I created a similar post on this topic and 90% of the replies were “then leave.”

I’ve discovered a few good people here, but overall this is no different than any large community: mostly average with a few intelligent people and a few not-so-intelligent people.

The reason? It’s a community, there are all types.

I would love to see that post you made..

I’m still fairly new so it’s easy to find. It’s my first post ever. As I just reread it and the replies I see I exaggerated the responses I received. Most were helpful, only a few were crappy and those are from the people here that typically respond in that fashion.

good post, darn like button not working
