I worked in fast food joints, restaurants, warehouses, retail sales, etc. just to earn a living while I was going to college. The Repubs prefer that you think of AOC as an unskilled laborer while conveniently forgetting her degree in economics and other experience.
ABC News:
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez: "I'm proud to be a bartender. Ain't nothing wrong that. There's nothing wrong with working retail...There is nothing wrong with preparing that your neighbors will eat."
"There is nothing wrong with being a working person in the United States of America."
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: "I, in fact, am encouraged when people remind the country of my past.
"If I could work in a restaurant and become a member of the United States Congress, so can you." [abcn.ws]
I had asked for an example of this in your previous post about random photos being added to your post. This seems to be a new feature, perhaps unfinished. If you use the base of the ABC News link you shared, you'll see that this essentially amounts to a screenshot of the homepage. This: [abcn.ws]
Yes, I saw the photos came from somewhere on the link, but they're not at all connected to the story I referenced. Similarly for the other added photos that have occurred.
I really like her bluntness and no nonsense approach. I find it embarrassing to see how ignorant some of our elected officials are compared to this young fresh face in Congress.
I couldn't agree more. AOC is incredibly intelligent and educated.
Anyone who thinks working in fast food, retail, warehouses etc. to pay for college and thinks that is sacrifice steals valor from those who actually had to pay for the progress they desired. I spent years of my time and placed my own life on the line for the opportunity to get higher education at a discount, only to discover college was irrelevant, and I could make more and be happier without it.
What has she given up?
AOC did not work hard to get to where she is, she was put there by shear luck. She will not be effective as either a policy maker, nor will she bring unity to the democratic party or this country. Her only asset is that she is very charismatic. Make no mistake, she will take shady deals. She will sacrifice the good of the people for her own benefit. She is, and will remain a puppet of external influences. ( Her campaign was funded by the young Turks )
The fact that someone like her can just waltz in and think she can fix everything without a realistic plan to do so is just ludicrous. We should be more careful in selecting our leaders, making diligent effort to select them based on reason rather than on raw emotion.
Trolls gonna troll!
