i went from 190 to 160 in about 1 yr. the atkins diet wasn't well known but i read an article about it in Time magazine.
i had been a big beer drinker so stopped drinking beer & switched to whiskey & water. then pretty well cut out carbohydrates. i if was hungry i'd open a can of salmon & eat all of it.

i think i was around 30 yrs old when i lost that weight.

A modified atkins is working for me too. I had to add more carbs and 4 spinach salads per week. But I'm down 26 lbs. In 91 days. Feeling great.

A diet low in simple carbs and sugars and a limit of one 4oz serving of beef, chicken, pork or fish a day.

I’ve lost 35 lbs over the last six months by sticking to fruits and vegetable for breakfast and lunch and having one meal including the RDA allowance serving of meat, vegetables and/ or pasta for dinner. No sweets and very limited dairy and breads.

Maintaining an active lifestyle also helps.

I think our best bet after that point is acceptance...

No quick losses. Just stay a steady course of a healthier diet and some exercise. Walking a couple miles every other day helps.
