I'm starting a water fasting not sure how long i can go but I'm looking forward to seeing the end result of such a discipline. I heard, read, and watched lectures about how great one feels after a week.
Fasting gave me a massive headache and made me feel shaky, crabby and and weak.
It does not work for me.
Fasting is one of these ridiculous fads that has its basis is religion.
If people treated their bodies right in the first place they wouldn’t have to stoop to such lows.
See if you can do 12 hours, next week 24, and so on.
This is a very bad idea.
Try time restricted eating; sometimes also referred to as intermittent fasting (Google has a wealth of info on this) is a better alternative.
The idea is that you reduce the number of hours allowed to consume all your meals.
There's too much information about this, to include here, but I would advise that you start with that and reconsider a water fast, until you are, or unless you are aware of how you respond to prolonged fasting.
3 days is not long enough to notice significant benefits of intermittent fasting. Extreme calorie reduction is not the goal either. It is to promote cell repair during fasting hours, produce more human growth hormone and reduce caloric intake by some margin that is both healthy and sustainable. It's not a "diet" but a way of eating.
What you want is results.. and ones that last. Long fasting diets will change your metabolism on a cellular level, perhaps permanently, even if you're not exercising during this time.
Metabolic function is key to long term weight sustainability and good health. Even if you achieve positive short term results, a long fast can produce ones that are negative long term.
There is research to support longer term fasting for organ regeneration and recovery, but you need to do this under the supervision of a doctor.
I've seen many people over the years (even quite young) develop a myriad of problem from extreme drops in caloric intake. The moment you start reintroducing food, you will gain weight very quickly. Transitioning out of a week long water fast, safely should take 2 weeks of continued calorie restriction.
Do you know exactly what you're doing and why? There are better ways to go about this.
That is very dangerous.
@Neenz that is called misinformation. Starving yourself for a week is not safe, it is not good for you, it can have permanent health consequences. And it won’t accomplish whatever you think it is supposed to do.
As in nothing to eat and you drink only water for a week. That’s got to be the dumbest diet nonsense thing I’ve heard lately. Why would you do this to your body?
