People always say, "rest in peace" but why the hell can't we just live in peace?? Hell, doing so would make saying"rest in peace" completely unnecessary.

Especially if you are laid into a metal coffin six feet in the ground!

It is, unless you have worked very hard in a noisy place and you do need to 'rest in peace'.

I would rather have an interesting life than a peaceful one.

Rest in Peace is one of those things we say because we don't like silence and we don't deal well with death. We do everything possible to avoid honesty when the subject is death; so we rely on cliches and euphemisms.

I think it's just a habit like "have a safe journey" but I agree it is a bit naf.

Living in peace would indeed be wonderful. But the phrase "RIP" is just one of those "comfort phrases" we say to offer sympathy or empathy or simply a polite way of saying goodbye to someone who had died. Death is still one of those situations which makes people uncomfortable.

I like the phase used by the Black Lives Matter movement, " Rest In Power". But then again, that phrase is only used for those who are martyred.

Part of it is the Narcissists, Sociopaths and Psychopaths that turn into "leaders".
