Science is the journey toward truth, religion is pretending you have already arrived there.
Thereβs a story of a priest telling an atheist how different they are from each other. The atheist responds by saying they are both like a person in a lightless room, looking for a black cat that is not there. The only difference between them is that the priest has found it.

I think religion played a big part in our journey towards truth. I look on it as bronze-age psychology and I respect the minds that came up with religious notions to explain life so very long ago. I don't think much of the laziness of modern minds that don't move with all the knowledge we have available today.
