Military superiority is ineffective against any sort of guerilla tactics - the small group of aggressors always have the upper hand, particularly if they are prepared to die in an attack.

Suicide bombs are almost by definition weapons of the weak and when you look at the numbers Muslim victims outnumber aggressors by a huge margin. As badly as it sucks for the individuals peaceful Palestinians being killed by soldiers are a good way to bring attention to the injustices they suffer.

The Muslim world is people like Mr Akkram, who runs the shop in the village I live in. He doesn't want to attack anyone; he just wants people to buy stuff from his shop while he sits behind the counter watching cricket on television, then go home at 10pm to see his wife and kids. That's what 99.9% of all other Muslims are like, too, though they might be working in hospitals or schools or the army or any one of a million other jobs instead of running shops.

The people who attack Sri Lankan churches and hotels, innocent people in the street, synagogues, skyscrapers and, potentially, cruise ships are fundamentalist religious nut-jobs; the fact that some of them are Muslims (of a sort) is by-the-by - they are not, and do not represent, "the Muslim world" as a whole any more than you represent all people called David or I represent all people who like marzipan.
