I'm afraid to inform you that Lisbon doesn't have a WWII memorial. Might be the exception that confirms the rule.

Portugal was a neutral country in WW2 that is why. They lost no citizens...!
@Marionville, very true. Salazar, the prime minister at the time sold uranium to the Allies and the Nazis. There's proof Nazi gold entered Portugal. There's no proof that stayed there.
Unlike the USA where the shops are all in malls outside the city and there is no public transport to get there.Apart from the city centre there are no pavements (sidewalks) and if you can find a pub they only sell tasteless beer so cold that it gives you sinusitis.

@MB2000 English "bitter" was originally served at cellar temperature which is 50F. Many modern bars do not have cellars so they have to be chilled. Also many modern crat ales are better a bit cooler.
Yes it is really nice to be able to walk to shops . cafes etc. I like a lot of things about living in the USA but hate the fact that you have to drive everywhere.
