The American dream is hard work to make the most of available opportunities. God or no God, hard work is the key to the kingdom of capitalism

Hard work or short cuts through lobbying Congress and the White House for big tax cut and other favors? American labor does not get anything more unless they go to Unions and begin striking. That is the only time the Capital wakes up and is compelled to listen.

American Capitalism is currently greedy and out of control. We need Democratic Capitalism with an even playing field with a fair shot at prosperity. Not just rich getting richer and poor getting poorer.

That hard work thing is just so much BS.

Let's look at the case of two Henrys.

The first shows up for work at the crack of dawn and is legendary for the hard physical labor he does. He works so hard he literally works himself to death.

The second shows up for work around 10 to 10:30, and sits at his desk reading a few letters and making and returning phone calls until lunch time. After an hour or so he returns from lunch, dictates a few letters, handles a few more phone calls, then heads out for a game of golf.

The first Henry is the legendary John Henry, the steel driving man. The second is Henry Ross Perot.

You tell me which one has "the key to the kingdom of capitalism"?

@Tiramisu Democratic Capitalism?..you mean Neo-Liberalism, don't you?..

@Charlene I am talking about fair play, not neo

@Tiramisu Democratic Capitalism doesn't exist..Corporations are Not a human being..They exist solely to benefit the investors that made investments..Capitalism as practiced in America Must be placed in shackles..there is No Even playingfield without government oversight..

@Charlene Oversight. That is what I am talking about. It is uncontrolled. The government is taking the side of the rich and powerful.

@Antidronefreeman so Enduring untenable wages is part of the life cycle? From generation to generation? How about an increase in the Federal minimum wage? How about Financially Raping Wall st Gangsters and the Bankster that are to big fail?..Fuck Capitalism...it Only works for those that are sucking in 60% of All income generated by Working/Middle classes..

Wow... interesting exchange while I keep working hard and I have exactly what I want. I am not a lobbyist, not a politician, I don't worry about things out of my control and then again, opportunities have been presented and I am actually pretty happy with what life have offered me in this great country of US. That's all I have to say.

@Antidronefreeman unlike the the last round of Yuge tax cut for the 1%..which has Already added billion to the National Debit...but I guess we should just wait to be trickled down on again..or endlessly..Btw..I'm no fan of Communism..

@Antidronefreeman, funny how higher national debt historically correlates with tax cuts in the top brackets, not increases in the minimum wage. But then that's historical facts, apparently not your strong suit.

@Antidronefreeman, so, I have "no idea of what what hard work means to capitalism or in general"?

Have you ever dug ditches to pay your bills? How about unloading box cars? Have you ever washed dishes in the campus cafeteria to pay your tuition? If you have never done that level of manual labor, STFU. You have no right to blow smoke.

I have spent much of the last four decades working on computers. It pays one hell of a lot better than digging ditches, unloading box cars, or washing dishes. And the work is nowhere near as hard. Hell, it's more like playing a lot of the time.

Why are you still trying to get anyone to buy the lie that "hard work is the key to the kingdom of capitalism"?

Statistically the real key to the kingdom of capitalism is winning the genetic lottery and being born into a wealthy family. Silver medal goes to real estate investment. Bronze goes to inventors and entrepreneurs. Manual labor doesn't even finish the race.

Well originally that was the plan.......the rich religious idiots fucked it all up. Yes it is really about who has the most money. Our country is now run by corporations and a religious "front"

3

Well, it was founded on secular ideals by men who saw the pious cities in Europe tearing at each other in holy fervor.
It would be nice in their descendants could live up to their wisdom instead of repeating the same mistakes that made people migrate in the past.

No.

Why would you want God but less America?

No spin please

@Tiramisu not spin its grammar

Yes. It's mistakenly believed that when we swear a public oath, it's required to say "so help me god." Article II doesn't state this. Moreover, when enlisting in the armed forces, the officer administering the oath is compelled to ask the assembled if anyone objects to the phrase. I suppose it could be argued in a court that requiring witnesses to state this violates Article I, Amendment I and Amendment V as being a witness in a court proceeding is technically a public office that doesn't require a religious test; violation of the practice, or not, of a stated religious principle; and compelling a witness to perjure in order to provide otherwise truthful testimony.
I blelieve people have the right to practice whatever superstition they like in their homes or house of worship. I believe people can state their religious affiliations in the public square, but they don't have the right to impose those beliefs in law, science, and medicine.
