THERE CANNOT BE A GOD

When I worked in New York downtown 33 years ago, the employer gave limo rides home (anywhere in NYC, CT, NJ and PA) if you worked until 7 pm and after.

One of my favorite things as a new comer to the U.S. was to chat with the limo drivers and ask how long they were driving, how New York has changed in that time etc.

After a driver in his '60s told me that he finally arrived in the U.S. by hiding in a cargo ship after being rescued from the Aushwitz camp at the age of 14, I said, "Thank God."

He immediately said, "What God? There is no God, there cannot be a God that allows over 6 million children to be killed, burnt alive."

The Germans and their collaborators killed as many as 2 million children, including over a million Jewish children, hundreds of thousands of Polish children, and tens of thousands of Romani children, moreover, children with physical and mental disabilities of various ethnicities living in institutions across the German-occupied Europe, or residing in the Soviet Union. Aside from Polish, Romani and Polish-Jewish children, many Jewish children from France, the Netherlands, Greece, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Italy, Romania and other countries also died as a result of mass deportations.
