My brother who is a Chaplin / Pastor and I were discussing the resurrection and if he actually believed it literally happen. Not once did he say yes I believe it happen. He said I believe the Bible is the word of god. Jesus is the only way to God. Interestingly when I continued to insist he answer the question. He said, Iām not going back to my old life.
??? His old life? He's saying he used to be a horrible person but became a Christian and turned into a good person? I never saw people change when they became Christians. If they were already kind, they stayed kind. If they were mean and critical, they stayed that way.
I too have a brother who is a pastor and has his own church. The guy is very bright, well spoken, well read but like your brother he says the exact same thing, "I believe in the bible"
He believes dinosaurs walked along side man. I do not get it but perhaps it is due to the Liberty University type teaching.
That is pretty enigmatic of him. I have read recently that quite a few Protestant clergymen (C of E particularly), donāt really believe most of the Bible, but still believe in god. Perhaps your brother is one if them.
I continue to see a disconnect on this site. You may not be doing this, it is a general comment. People are quick to point out the indocturnated community that is organized religion and their need to convert the unbeliever. Should it follow then that we leave others to their beliefs unless they are open to discussing them.
His brother is a pastor . Talking about his beliefs is actually his profession . His brother made a choice to claim that he understands the word of god and also his duty to spread it . Hello ?
I usually wait until they raise the subject, ask if they really want to discuss this or just want to preach and if the answer if yes, then they get both metaphorical anti-theist barrels.
