Just going to throw a few things out there, labor laws, social security, medicare, medicaid. civil rights act, voting rights act, NASA, and those are just off the top of my head in 10 seconds.

Opposing Republican party selling out the country to rich polluters robbing people of their benefits like Medicare and social security stealing from social security to fund tax cuts for rich pricks poisoning water in flint Michigan with lead for cutting taxes for same rich people just to name a few things list goes on and on

Well . I am a nurse . I know very litle of " politics ". I read and I have to check things constantly in order to open my mouth . I only know Humans well . Very well . That I will stand for and I will argue . That , I will vote for .
The humans I have nursed in this country the last 23 yrs , they came to me sick , anxious , and either broke , either broke to be after the medical bills . I have nursed the young teens who are educated in shitty public schools . The ghetto and the immigrants in Texas and Florida . The prostitutes and the crack heads in Virginia , the older retired and in a budget white folks , and the every day average joe w his sub life and sub kids .
In any case , for the biggest part , I can link bad decisions , bad maintance , and bad behaviors to limited of education , poverty , stupidity and religion , and in general in abcense of empathy and compassion . I vote for the party who cares for soccial issues . I like to vote for who ever supports good education and health care . Stupid people are the future sick people . That's a fact .
As for the religion part , do I have to explain ? I vote for who ever does not support laws that are based on religion beliefs and promote more of religion . I am an atheist . And a nurse . I am not an agnostic . I took plenty of babies and adults to the morgue through my career . Religious politicians and believers in general , they will never earn my respect or trust / vote . If u need gods , I don't need u . It's simple . I will tolerate u , ( Bcz these assholes impose everywhere and they are entitled to everything , even in politics ), but I will never respect u or count on u as an individual w the minimum amount of functioning brains .

There’s a fair amount of research that intelligent, educated people are more likely to be liberal and also, separately, are more likely to be atheist than less intelligent, less educated people. I don’t consider myself a Democrat but am very liberal and they are the option that represents my beliefs better than the others.

Republican or conservatism means believing in things without evidence in order to continue to believe in fairy tales. Not only religion.

They have to deny facts, reality, statistics in order to keep their believes in like 2nd Amendment is awesome, it prevents tyranny, American dream is real, if you work hard, you will be successful no matter what, America is exceptional, free-market capitalism produces the best results not just to the people to the top but to everybody, current healthcare system is the best in the world, humans cannot damage the environment because god protects it, etc. not to mention gays are sick, white people are supreme.

I argue a lot of positions commensurate with the Democratic stance. I've never belonged to a political party in all my life. My philosophies are more similar to Democrats than Republicans.

Why am I a Democrat and liberal? One, I’ve read the various Republican platforms, local and national, as sick-making as they are. Two, I’m a woman, bisexual, now disabled, always a non-believer. Now I’m poor, too. I watched the rights of others get stepped on all my life here in the South, and I hate it. I watch folks vote against unions, against themselves, and I hate it.

My daughter and I had a convo a few days ago about climate change. We both agree it’s probably too late, but the planet will survive. Then we speculated about what researchers will conclude in a million years about us. Will our toxins become gems or inclusions? Will there be a Big Pharma Epoch? We were kind of joking, but not really. Another reason why. We’ll fail, but I have to try.
