Actually open carry is a very recent concept.... All those old John (The Draft Dodger) Wayne moves were bullshit. Towns in the so-called "Wild West" had strict gun control you were NOT allowed to carry a gun in the streets even in Dodge City. Remember the shoot out at the OK Corral?... Their refusal to turn over their guns at the sheriff's office is really what caused that incident....
