We all went the same schools, and took the same 9th grade civics class.
So why are so many of us so ignorant when it comes to how anything works in this country?
Very few seem to know how a bill becomes a law or how the constitution is amended.
Very few seem to know that an impeachment is a trial and not a conviction.
Very fee seem to have a clear understanding of any of it.

That was poetic as fuck. What does it have to do with my post?
I was wondering. Is geography actually thought in schools in the US? I saw a clip on TV where people in the US were asked to point out on the world map where the US was and none, not even one could do it.

Priorities?
Some pursued the subject more than others out of interest...some valued biology over civics...some pursued careers requiring advanced learning...some became parents...some are complacent and have no perceived stake in government...some feel helpless and don't want to know...some are lazy...
Obviously, I could go on, so assume this is a rhetorical question?

It's not a question of priorities, or choices. Civics was a REQUIRED class, as was biology. It had nothing to do with preferences. We were required to leave 9th grade knowing how government worked.
I left school and went on with my life and still remembered what I learned. The only reason it would be forgotten is if a student, or his parents, felt it had no value to begin with.

@MattChanning1 I meant that some, like you, are probably life long learners and have retained and perhaps gone on to further your understanding of not only civics but a whole lot of other subjects...some stopped, sadly, or no longer care, which is why you seem frustrated with their lack of knowledge...I get it...it is frustrating.
And not all of us had the same class in civics...some of us went to foreign schools and learned our own civics as well as that of the country we were in...
Yes, I do enjoy my snoozes...
I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned "ignorant". They were more interested in getting laid when in school and now they just want simple answers to complicated questions.
