Yes, voting should be compulsory, but made easy. Mail a ballot to all qualified voters. So you do not have to wAit hours in line. All these impedinents to voting, allows the politicians to win with a minority. Australia fines people for not voting.

Yes yes and yes. we all need to vote forcing us to become aware of the issues. I hate it when someone says "Oh all politicians are the same" They are not. And if we live in a nation that provides socialism , such as ours, we have roads, schools, police etc, we must give a damn about it.
A holiday should be declared and all are required to vote, OR a week of balloting without a holiday is fine but yes all must vote.

Yes. I lived in The Netherlands for seven years and I absolutely loved that each voting day was a day off so everyone could vote.

I'd support moving Election Day to a weekend, possibly both Sat and Sun.

Definitely a holiday, at least. It surprises me the lengths political parties in the US try to suppress voters.

I do like the idea of election day being a holiday. No matter which, it shouldn't be hard (and our culture makes it hard) to go and vote.

As for compulsory, no. Why? It's only a baby step from compulsory voting to... well, making other things compulsory (like voting compusorily for a candidate!).

It should be a federal paid holiday

Sure, and your government offices are closed, but what about your barista, or waiter/waitress? Are the banks closed? Think about the last federal holiday and what you did, what you could've chosen to do.

It needs to be such that we can function AND everyone gets the opportunity to vote. So, we might require that shifts are half shifts for that day so that ALL employees of establishments like restaurants that WILL be open have the chance to vote, early, or late. Something like that has to happen so that you and I can vote and have our lattes and everyone is treated fairly.

Holiday, but good luck getting the vote-suppressing Republicans to go along with that.

Not compulsory, it might get some people angry and vote just to do it.
Paid Holiday if possible.

I'm ok with election day being a holiday
