The Big Bang Theory - just watched a show on the Science Channel "Did the Big Bang Really Happen?" - These guys are trying so hard to make it work - but they claim the math doesn't fit. well duh.
And it never will fit - The Universe is infinite - it has always been here. There was no beginning.
Until scientists accept these facts they will wallow in their search for one.
I find it sad and pathetic.

The red shift is a very simple concept. Radiation from stars moving towards us appears to have a higher frequency, so they shift to the blue (higher frequencies). Radiation from stars moving away from us appear to have a lower frequency, so they shift to the red. Astronomers have found that the farther away stars are from us, the faster they are moving away. They can trace their locations all back to a central point. That's the basis for the big bang theory. If the universe was always here, there would be no red shift.

Wrong - its always been here - your science is flawed.

@gater How do you explain the fact that galaxies close to us are moving away from us at fast rates and galaxies that are farther away from us are moving away at faster rates?

@BD66 Galaxies have nothing to do with space, other than they occupy space. What you are missing is that space and matter are independent from one another. Galaxies moving at different speeds and directions just mean there were other forces on them when they started - all stars, galaxies, planets have life cycles.

Gater, The evidence for the big bang is overwhelming. This site provides a simple explanation:

If you listen to or read "Astrophysics for People in a Hurry" Neil De Grasse Tyson does a great job explaining it.

You should see the episode - at the end the lady says she doesn't know, that maybe man won't know until the next Einstein comes along.
The thing is if the premise is to discover how the Universe got here - you will never find the answer - because the Universe has always been here.
This idea of a singularity is so retarded - as a human, im embarrassed that other humans can believe in such nonsense.

I am a man who has come to agree with you fully on this idea. Bible believers want to clarify everything by saying their god has always existed and that does not work. Substitute the word "universe" and it might work. You and I and our ability to think is our beginning.

Right - good man.
