the Senate, there would have to be a trial in the Senate. Trump and his lawyers could defend themselves.
when the trial was over, Trump then would be acquitted.

No. BTW, Nixon had popular support and the majority did not want him impeached, yet he ended up resigning when impeachment was inevitable. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and I say, impeach the motherfucker, it is not an overnight thing, testimonies may change some people's minds just like it happened with Nixon aides, also vote him put of office, nothing I say is mutually exclusive.
