I have noticed men say that. "This is how I am; take it or leave it."
Have only met one women who said that. She likes to play victim.

It may be a matter of perspective, but I've heard that more often from women. Personally, the only time I said, "This is I am; it won't change." I was talking to woman who said that I cared more about my kids than I did her. Of course, she was right.
