There are aspects of morality and ethics that are supported in many religions that I fully agree with - but I see no logic in the idea that a religion is a pre requisite for the development of morality or ethics

All religious stories are nonsense. However, in most religions there are some truths. The best cons have soem truth mixed in to make them more convincing.
