I once looked up the word “blame” and the entry took me to a Wikipedia entry — now gone — describing scapegoats. As I recall the story there was a time in ancient communities when they villagers would bring a goat into the centre square. They would put a blanket over the back of the goat with many pockets sewn on it. The people would then put articles in the pockets symbolizing their distress, worries, troubles and fears. The name of the blanket was “Scape.” They would then drive the innocent goat off into the wilderness to take away their troubles. So I tell that story and then ask people, “Who is the most famous scapegoat in history?” Your answer?
