Just wondering here. Is there anyone that used to be a part of one of the speaking in tongues congregations?
If so, did you ever speak in tongues and what was the deal?

The brothers went to the same secular university I did, where the freedom drove one even crazier, not religious,just into a huge party animal. All three eventually calmed down.

This is a common majik trick in Pentecostal congregations. They will appear as ordinary parishioners, seated near the front (where everybody can see them). On cue, they jump up, and begin babbling gibberish. Then, they fall in the floor, and roll around. It's all designed to get church-goers to put more money in the offering plates. You might say, it's almost a form of "entertainment" for the gullible. "Proof" of the presence of the "Holy Spirit". In short, it is a cheap conjurer's trick!

My neighbors were Pentacostal (mom for real, kids for pocketing the donation money for candy)and there were a few actual members who got off on falling and rolling. I've seen videos of some religious freaks who dance like idiots until they fall down from exhaustion.

Attended a christening with friend at Episcopal church(doing a favor) priest told a story about when he was a seminary student they h had a 80year old senior teaching them a parishioner fell down speaking tongues t they asked what to do he said we're Episcopalian call 911
I had a CCD teacher who was Pentacostal. (That was the end of my CCD lessons after I told my Mum what we were hearing about in class).
She told us about receiving "The Holy Spirit and Speaking in Tongues" - it sounded a lot like possession to me and it didn't exactly jive with Roman Catholicism that we were being taught. lol
Apparently once you were "Taken by the spirit" you might also fall down or dance madly. So she told us.
