Rauner was probably one of those people who struggled to graduate high school, so doesn't have a positive relationship with education. Not an excuse, just a speculation. As a teacher. I've encountered many of these people in my career.

What does he earn? Shows where priorities lie, teachers educate our children...it’s vital to get the very best.

I just looked it up! $177,412.00 per year.
