What's the greatest disease and is not contagious?
It's loneliness and it can lead to physical symptoms and death. That's why all those religious groups who have a hug, have a coffee and conversation after a sermon have got it all over us atheists. Have you ever seen an atheist hug? Probably not. We're just cold as ice. and that's our problem. Those Pentocostals got it all over us. I hope to change that with my new Atheistical Church which I'm about to start up. It won't send you broke as I only charge 5% instead of the usual 10.

Have fun and keep thinking, we only evolved in a pretty short time and no one has the answers.

So dear readers I propose a new church based on the Holy Trinity which I interpreted as meaning sex, drugs and rock&roll (also lot's of hugging and possibly other things).

Got to go. Minding my daughter's white rat called Chloe. When a rat kisses you it means it's hungry and will spread horrible diseases if you don't feed her.

If, in order to get a hug, I have to endure annoying chanting and horrible instant coffee, I'd rather forego the hug.

Loneliness is not a disease... Or else it is the most easily cured of all diseases.... Step out of your shell and stop hanging out with rats!

Mate, when you move to a different city and know no one and live in a nice aprtmentment block - well it's hard to find rats though tankyou for the suggestion. I got a mouse trap somewhere in the boxes of unpacked things.

While one of the few pluses of organized religion is the sense of community which it creates, there are certainly plenty of secular options available if one is seeking to join a social group.

However, the big advantage religion has over agnostics and athiests isn’t about community, it’s about being able to offer the luxury of not having to think for one self. Of not having to be held personally accountable for the potential consequences when ones actions or ideas are wrong headed.

Religion tells people what to say, do and think at almost every juncture of their lives. Sadly, many people want that rigid structure, and they’ll even throw away a significant part of their income through tithing to get it.

I haven't checked the origin of the word 'church' but the ethiest and agnostics out there could form our own church and develop a sense of community. We stick together.

Well I think the greatest disease that is not contagious is hunger. It will kill you, many people that have it are powerless to do anything about it and despite all the wealth in the world I heard tonight that for instance one in four children in Phoenix is uncertain about where their next meal is coming from. If you ask a hungry person if they'd rather have food or a hug which do you think they'll take?

Dear Lerlo, I'm not sure how the planet can handle it when African and Indian nations produce an average of 8 kids per household. Education and contraception programs could help.

@jules4169 Well the rich countries arent feeding their "hungry" either

Sorry...what is this about atheists never hugging and being cold as ice? I’m a lifelong atheist and I hug and kiss and am as warm and friendly a person as you could find. The religious don’t have a monopoly on love and friendship...it’s a human instinct which we don’t need to organise into a religion to display.

Sorry, I'm sure athiest are qquite capable of kissing and hugging, in fact I would only kiss or hug an athiest because there are no points to be gained - in heaven. Make your heaven here on earth; you only got about 80 yrs to do so
