Government giving way to a religion? Note - this just my take, the relevant parties have their own stance.

A school in the Midlands (England, UK) has suspended its teaching about LGBT relationships because of 'frantic phone calls' from the Department for Education (DfE). Parkfield Community School's No Outsiders equality programme, which encourages children to accept differences in religions, families and relationships, was suspended after angry protests at the school gates. The head of the trust that runs the school said the DfE wanted it out of the press. Protesters say the subject matter contradicts the Islamic faith.

What a sad, sorry mess this all is. The DfE should be ashamed of themselves for hushing it all up as an excuse for not doing anything. The protesters should actually find out what the No Outsiders programme is about - there is no teaching or mention of sex in any way. If a school is teaching children that same-sex relationships exist then for me that's no different from any other factual teaching we bring to young peoples' attention in, say, history or geography lessons.
