I saw Strongbow’s post and wanted to ask: those of you who are preppers/survivalists: how long do you WANT to live after an apocalyptic event, and why? I’ve debated and discussed this with prepper friends, and my thing is: I’m not going to live like that. Too much fear, paranoia, scrabbling to survive. I’d rather just go. But that’s me.
What say you?
I live less than 1/2 mile from where they build nuclear submarines, plus the nearby Naval Base for them....I find it very comforting,, as do most people around here. Oh, and a nuclear power plant about 10 miles away...so, all set....
Underground and trapped. If society breaksdown to that degree head for the hills. Survival will depend on a source of food , water and shelter. If your stuck in an urban environment, same thing. A parking garage or high building, somewhere you can defend . The amount of effort will depend on the nature of the disaster and ability to be of use.
I see people building these under ground shelters in preparation for some cataclysmic event, and I can’t help but think that the greatest strength of these shelters is also their greatest weakness.
Because these shelters are under ground, they will be excellent for protection against the initial onslaught, but because they are under ground, there is also nowhere to retreat when the upheaval final finds them. And sooner or later it will.
I look at it this way: having all that shit makes you a target; also, there is no assurance you are going to make it through what ever cataclysmic event occurs. And, if I survive the first wave if whatever - scavenge and take.
BTW - the Zombie Apocalypse is coming in 2020. You can tell them from their MAGA hats.
well there is a good chance we may have not to make that decision .nature will , but it will be survial or sure o the ittest and smaller groups will have to band together and work as a unit to try and survive,,especially trying to ind a safe place to live as well as drinking water and food
If it is like a fifth mass extinction, I rather go like you!
