Ex-Muslim atheist activist banned by Facebook. ‪Australian Ex-Muslim, Harris Sultan, gets banned from Facebook under orders of Pakistan. And thus...

Why I think sites like Gab.com and the like need to exist.

Gab.com is a website that touts itself as a platform for free speech, detractors paint it simply as a place where right wing extremists, fascists, Nazi's, white supremacists, well how about ex-Muslim atheist activists who've been banned by Facebook?

Big Tech has too much power and it is abused, they are influenced by governments in order to find favor in new, highly populated markets so they can make money for their investors and themselves.

I have a Gab account, it's not currently what I'd call a pleasant place to visit, if you browse around, most of the content is garbage, that's what happens when you allow anyone to say virtually anything (they do take down illegal speech, such as death threats), but I hope that enough people who value free speech, who aren't trolls and nazis, will set up on and use the platform to help change the environment. At first it'll take people with a thick skin, eventually I hope things will balance out so that people have less tolerance for such ugly expressions will have an easier time using it.

With all this in mind, would you consider joining Gab?

The goal is to be a much better version of 8chan? Those are some lofty goals. Free speach is more than a dual-edged sword. It's a fucking cluster bomb when let loose.

I joined Gab at the beginning when it was touted as an alternative to Voat, which was started as an alt-Reddit clone. The problem is, a lot of christards and trumptards have since joined and it's impossible to screen that shit out so I don't go there.

“gets banned from Facebook under orders of Pakistan”

Sorry. I don’t believe that for a second.

I have experience as well, that these kinds behavior taken by Facebook against secular Afghan activists, their Facebook account has been disabled many times, Facebook earns by advertising, so if a government ask Facebook to do something they will do it immediately, they do not want to lose their audience just because of one user.
