Not familiar with Canadian politics. So is Doug Ford a Republican? He sure sounds like a politician.

Doug Ford is the Prime Minister of Ontario, the richest and most populated province of Canada.
A provincial Prime Minister is the equivalent of a state governor.
Doug Ford is the brother of the defunct and controversial former mayor of Toronto Rob Ford.
He's from the Conservative party, about as much in the conservative right wing spectrum as the Republicans.
