Had a long talk about dating with a friend of mine and I've come to the conclusion that I am too normal for the weird girls that I like and too weird for the normal girls that I like.
As my friend put it, I'm like a soccer dad with a freak flag I keep folded up in my back pocket that gets revealed at the most inopportune moments.

I understand what you're saying, and I often feel that way myself. It's rough. But I believe there are other people with quirky personalities out there looking for the same ... and your existence supports that belief. So buck up and keep pulling out that freak flag whenever the urge strikes you, so the right person can recognize you when your paths cross.
