Hey everyone, how would you answer this question? I live in Utah and identify as an atheist. Here is the question that I had to answer in a questionnaire for class introductions that are available for all my classmates and professor to read. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates? "You're a good man and you may enter." However, in all honesty, I don't believe in God, heaven or hell. I care about the Earth, people, the facts and what we can prove to be true on the scientific level. I am not trying to spark a debate I am just stating where I stand. My answer is in bold but I want to hear what you have to say and how you would have answered this question.

"Sorry for creating such a fucked up place. Please forgive me."

I wouldn't be in that class, but if I'd signed-up by mistake I'd drop it.

@EdEarl it is a requirement for my new major but the professor doesn't seem to care what religion affiliation we are I also saw some other non-religious people answer the question as well.

I like your answer. I'd probably say:

"I'd like to think my choices here on earth will have affected the people and places I leave behind in a positive way. I've acted truthfully, ethically and responsibly. The only heaven I need is to know my conscience (soul?) is at peace." Or I might add: "But if there's a god, and a heaven, and a 2000+ year old Saint Peter, he would likely say something in Hebrew that I can’t understand, so it doesn’t matter what he says as he opens those pearly gates!”

Jesus is quoted in the Gospel according to Thomas, as saying something like: "The kingdom of Father (heaven) is spread upon the earth, but men do not see it." Many Christians feel this means that the kingdom is within you as well as outside you, but not in some far off place. I like to think heaven is the little smile my loved ones will hopefully have when they fondly think of me. That won't happen unless I'm sweet and loving while I'm alive.

If any such thing would happen, I would be all over that weirdo with questions about murdered children, for one, and they would have to drag me away still yelling! I find you too nice!

@ AnneWimsey Trust me I would be all of that maniac as well with questions about a lot of things. Murdered children, pain that is caused across the world, disease, world hunger, and the list goes on.

Weird that such a question should be listed but I would not answer it. Just put N/A.

I've no idea what this ‘god’ would say, but if allowed to speak, I could honestly say, “apparently, I was wrong.”

But what a pathetic scenario such a requirement is..
