It’s the ultimate hail cannon! I live in rural Victoria, Australia so I hope this doesn’t put ideas into the heads of the local farmers!

The article says that the risk of spreading radiation was too dangerous, and that a hurricane releases more energy than a nuke, so may have little effect. Hurricanes get stronger when a warm sea adds energy. Would a nuke also make one stronger?

“His goal – to keep a catastrophic hurricane from hitting the mainland – is not bad,” another senior White House official, who had been briefed on the president’s remarks, told Axios. “His objective is not bad.”

So much stupid. This episode, to me, cements my opinion that Trumps mind is firmly trapped in the late 50's early 60's, and there is no way to even bring it into the 70's, let alone this century.

Can anyone really be that stupid? Does he say these things to keep intelligent people off balance? While we are getting upset about that, he can slip something else past.

I have wondered if this is some slight of hand - or if he's just this bat shit crazy?

@RavenCT Putting my psychology beard on, the latter. Look at his body language at the G7 dinner. It was like Macron's Trump sitter had let him down at the last minute and he had to bring him along to meet the grown-ups.

@Sofabeast The hand waving he does when talking alone is enough to make me wonder about the state of his mind. Trust me - that dude has issues.

My ancestry is French and we don't use our hands that much (or that oddly).

And boy his body language in any meeting is just so - terrible. The aggression for one.
And than the absence of thought? Where he just plows in front of another dignitary for instance?

I've never seen another president behave that way. Not even Reagan who was afflicted by Alzheimer's in his later years as President.
