Could a strategically placed bomb or bombs set off in a hurricane break it apart?

The way it would work is a wall of energy can be created by dropping hundreds, maybe thousands of bombs set to go off at different altitudes, breaking the circle, causing the force of the hurricane to be diverted into the open sea - it could work.

Most say no - but you missed the words strategically and bombs - plural - the answer is YES

Assuming you're talking about non-nuclear bombs, unless the bombs are endothermic, it would likely only serve to strengthen a hurricane.

Might make a stronger storm; hurricanes get stronger when over warmer (more energy) water.

If you're talking atomic or nuclear, that might work but the after effects would be far worse than what the hurricane would do... Then again, it could be a source of energy the hurricane could tap into, making the hurricane stronger...

If he's not talking about nuclear he's yet even dumber

@1of5 if he is talking nuclear, that's kinda irresponsible anyway... So he's stupid either way... What do you think about detonating a large ship, loaded with tons of liquid nitrogen to reduce the heat energy?

@Cutiebeauty unless used for space travel talking about detonating nuclear devices is irresponsible.

Think it's as fanciful of an idea as any other that wouldn't work. The eye of a hurricane is 20 + miles across, how big of a ship are we talking here, and how much of the ocean are you willing to freeze?

The only way to mitigate hurricanes is to reduce the overall energy in the atmosphere that creates/feeds them

@1of5 OK.. Forget the ship... Bad idea 😜😁

@Cutiebeauty not being the president means you and I get to have bad ideas, thankfully. He gets to have them to, but we kinda have the expectation that he'll also have more good ones than bad. Kinda importaint to do his job correctly.

So, fuck.

No it would be tremendously awful and seed nuclear fallout.

He didn't say nuclear bombs.

@bingst But the suggestion of nukes were in the news this week (45 again). So the presumption comes to mind.

Not without poisoning a good chunk of the planet.

I think a hurricane would spread radiation much mre efficiently than the explosion itself. An atomic blast has mych less energy than a hurricane.
