5 months ago floods nearly wiped this Iowa town off the map. It may never come back. FEMA is buying out the owners. What do you think? Should they rebuild?

All the flood plains should be abandoned. Including all the coastal shores. These areas are for natural use. No humans should be living there.

All the levees should be dismantled.

There should be NO insurance or other protections provided to those who stay there after they were warned.

The previous FEMA director is all about strong zoning laws and prohibition of building in any area frequently devastated. Tornados, fire, hurricanes: get the fuck out and stay there. At least build appropriately.

New Orleans should have been abandoned. It is under water. Let it go.

There is a small town in Nebraska that was pretty much wiped out, they are thinking it is time to move the town to higher ground. Ya think? I am not sure if they should disband the town and move to neighboring towns that might need the business or just move the town. It is not like there is a mandate for the town to exist. I who have lived a somewhat nomadic life have no ties to any towns. Others may not agree. Since I realize I don't have a dog in that fight and the outcome will not affect me much, I simply don't care.

Mixed bag for me, getting people away from areas known to flood is a good thing using tax payer dollars to fix stupid when this administration is using same dollars to build a wall we don't need, committing crimes against humanity (border detention issues), taking away schools lunch and other programs for the poor, etc. you get my point. Don't even get me started on the lawyer fees being used to fight all the crap states are suing trump and the administration over.
All the while predictions of rising sea levels will put the coast line communities at major risk a risk that will become a national security risk!!

When FEMA is buying out the owners due to flooding, that is actually a good thing. If it flooded that bad once, it will do it again. See what happened at Times Beach, Missouri. I saw it first hand. Standard FEMA SOP. With climate change occurring so rapidly, entire coast line should be prepared to relocate permanently. But fools being fools, will stay until it's too late.
