Is it pagan of me to be lighting a fire and being entranced by the flames? Oh well ..
Actually, in Anthropology, there is a theory that the discovery of fire was a stimulus on the development of speech.Fire brought Humans together, and got them talking to each other. So, maybe the Human fascination for fire really is a primal instinct on our part?
So there may be a reason one of my nicknames is yeti?
For millenia humans have felt safer with a fire nearby. I even question the "absolutely dark room to improve sleep" movement. Since when has being in absolute darkness been either comforting or relaxing???
I won't deny it. There tends to be a set of lights on when I sleep.
So they are saying that we get bored by stuff we are familiar with, yes true certainly but very banal. However making the theory that in the case of fire this is special in some way, is really stretching the limit of credibility without good scientific evidence which they don't provide.
I don't think one has to be pagan to be "entranced" by flames. Here a possible explanation: [livescience.com]
Hmm... It makes sense, but doesn't apply.
Only if you are also pagan. I knew a Shinto guy who was entranced by flames. It was super Shinto.
Just how much have you had to drink tonight? Round down to the nearest pint, please, I don't wanna do higher math tonight.
@1of5 heh. You said "high". Heh.
@MarkiusMahamius I'm calling you at 6 am your time tomorrow.
@1of5 leaving to Australia now
@MarkiusMahamius gonna go drink with the pros, eh?
No offence, but I wasn't impressed. But, to each their own. You would probably loathe some of my music and that's ok.
