Finally. Much better than doing nothing. I run for Libertarian party decades back and we were proposing to eliminate ALL public trough. Anyone not interested in working would get a one way ticket to a city purposely built far north. Everything provides, efficiently, everything free, pools, cinemas, eat in cafeterias, no individual kitchens. Regimented life but 100% comfortable. And at any time someone would decide to earn own living another one way ticket would be provided to anywhere with $100 seed money for every completed month in the planned compound. Of course the stumbling block is the roach. (North America has 1and half million of them). They skim from evey aspect of out lives. Their incitement to sue firms for providing services is sickening.

I think Libertarianism is a religion

Criminalizing poverty. Incarceration. Labor camps.

This is only a talking point to shame Democratic California. Trump will do nothing.

Actually, I see nothing bad with his proposal to fund housing for the homeless provided the homeless are not forced into said housing.

To Trump: Show us the money!

3

Sounds like Guantanamo incarceration rather than investing in a housing project to help ease the situation.

When did America turn into The Land Of The Fucked Over!

If you're a black person and poor always.

Another way to spend money on worthless incarceration, so corporate prisons make more money, and share some with him.

Is this his "Final Solution"?

Another concentration camp with his buddies getting outrageous money for running them

"Government-backed facilities" are shit-hole prison camps run by private businesses.

I don't think I have a problem with government facilities for homeless. Why would that be a problem?

IDK what to think. Don't trust Trump as far as you can throw him. What do Californians think I ask?

Would you care to live anyplace that the government ran,if you had no alternative? Remember, they use the cheapest bidder for any contract they enter into.

@WayneDalton If you have no alternative, then of course! I’d take a government provided clean bed and bath over sleeping on the street any day.

@jerry99 You would. Fine. Have you walked among the homeless? Have you really talked to them? Spent even one night in a homeless shelter? You might change your mind. Oh, and yes, I have. It still doesn't give me full insight as each person is facing an individual problem, be it economics, hard luck, addictions, fear, mental health. Most don't trust the government; many don't trust most people.

@Beowulfsfriend And your point is?
In the old days they would have been institutionalized or jailed for vagrancy. Today they can go to a shelter where they have the option of leaving at will. I don't have a solution to the homeless problem but I think leaving people to suffer on the streets is not a desirable situation.

@jerry99 the point is corraling people was inhumane once, and yes, some needed it and instead of opening the flood Gates as the gov did, better conditions and healthy options should have been built. More caseworkers and care givers, etc. There is no simple solution to a complex problem. Also, be aware, a lot of homeless work. Better housing options and pay equality would be a giant step to this administration building camps that would serve as detention centers for people who committed no crime other than poverty
