How come with over 99,000 members there is only around 220 on line at any time? When I first joined in July 2018, there was less than 99,000 members by quite a few, and there was 350 on line regularly. What are your thoughts?
My thoughts? I wish I had some ice cream with those little chocolate sprinkles...............
I think the "online counter" may be wrong. And, as the admin of a Meetup site, I can tell you that only about 5-10% are actually ever active, the rest just like to say, "I belong to 40-60-100 (whatever) Meetup sites" as if that was some "thing".
The other 99,780 have a life? Lol
@creative51 oh yeah. Lol
Don’t really care to be honest. There are some clever people here to engage with at a high level which is why I continue with it.
Can’t get these interactions down the pub!
Many people responded to the ads for this site, "dating", "like minds", and a warm fuzzy concept about a better kind of community. Cue reality. The dating features of this site were comical and useless, and though the forums and conversation were outstanding at times, the community turned on itself pretty quickly.
The pool of potential daters dried up pretty quickly, and those who were "here for the community" have mostly wandered off.
I don't know thdd average "life span" of a member here... there are a few people here who joined in late 2017 when the site was barely starting to be explored, but im guessing the average amount of time that someone joins and stays engaged, is only a few months. Id love to see some stats about membership here. Im guessing this site would be sold if it were doing better, but im also fascinated that it keeps limping along as it is. I used to think it was a data mining project; sometimes i thought it might just be someones grad school seminar; maybe just a way of collecting email addresses. Shrug.
