If you have an "exit strategy" you will be able to bear up better. (Even knowing where a cheap rooming house or motel is, and how you could get there). It is that trapped feeling that magnifies everything!

Keep looking for commonalities, focus on them and drill down...

@Ms_McSteven how long do you need to stay before you can get out?

@Ms_McSteven ugh! Stay and look around and see what you can find.

Maybe you need to set some basic house rules?

I lived 17 years entirely alone and now have a roomate. But I picked someone with ideals similar to my own. (I imported my best friend).

It's two adults trying to agree on sharing space. People who never have done that before usually. Give it some time.

Or talk out what's bothering you? It might help to put words to it.

@Ms_McSteven Sounds like differing expectations?

She wants a built in family - you want a place to crash and be fairly private?

That's rough.

We do food together. I find it easier. However in her case - all she has to do is cook for more people and freeze the leftovers. (That's an easy fix). She just may not LIKE cooking for one.

Any chance of you finding a roommate who is a better match to what you want? There's no shame in admitting it's not working out after you give it enough of a try. (I'd say a few weeks).

Hang in there. I remember the first week being the worst with any new living situation. There's so much to learn about the person(s) you are living with.

Sharing a house can be odd, it takes some getting use to.

Will you give notice and look for better quarters ?

@Ms_McSteven one week at a time....maybe she will travel out of town for a week and you will feel at peace a little longer
