Depends where you work. In some cases you get none. Zero.

PTO itself is kind of a scam. When I've had jobs that used it, if I got sick, I went to work. If using a sick day is a day less of vacation, then my ass is coming in. Y'all can get sick with me IDGAF.

To answer the question, I get like 5 or 6 paid holidays, but you work most of them and get time-and-a-half. Then two weeks of vacation so long as you don't get sick too often and a couple personal days that have to be pre-approved.

In Australia you get 4 weeks paid holidays and then all the public holidays of course. The working week is 36 - 40 hours. + you get 9 days sick leave if you work full time.

My job gets 9 paid holidays (new years, mlk day, president day, memorial day, independence day, labor day, turkey day, day after tday, xmas) plus what was 25 days of PTO. But my workplace changed to "unlimited time off" which sounds great but its really utter BS and a cudgel.

In the UK we have 8 holiday days and most have 4 or 5 weeks paid leave in addition to them..

Back in the 90s I had a high pressure job. I took a week or so holiday every 3 months and weekend breaks of 3 or 4 days between them. The company assessed us and our work every month ... the outcome could be instructions to take leave (not part of holiday entitlement and recuperate - sometimes with an expenses paid hotel stay for me and wife.
The logic was simple - we were expected to perform at 100% all the time at work, and push to higher standards as and when needed - you can't do that indefinitely and need relaxation time too.
The attrition rate was high - many alcoholics, drug abusers and a few suicides among my colleagues ... I ended after a complete mental breakdown that took a year to begin to recover from ... still recovering 20 years later

One day off not including the holiday: New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Christmas, Thanksgiving.

Vacation: the standard is two weeks paid leave after a year of working full time.

The total is 16 days.

Students get more days off of school. Kindergarten through 12th grade.
